MILTON - Dorothy A. (Reichard) Hower, 90, died Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Wellspan Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born on April 22, 1935 in Milton and was the daughter of the late George E. and Kathryn (Fairchild) Reichard.
On May 31, 1957, Dorothy married the late George P. Hower and they celebrated 54 years of marriage together until his death on March 29, 2011.
She was a graduate of Milton High School, Class of 1953. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in biology from Bucknell University in 1957. She worked for Sunbury School District for several years and then went on to work for Milton School District as a Science teacher for the middle school for 27 years and retired in 1993.
Dorothy was a lifelong member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Milton and enjoyed walks is the woods, bird watching, supporting the New York Yankees, attending Bucknell men’s basketball games, gardening, joining her friends for weekly Wednesday breakfast club. Dorothy was a huge supporter of her grandson’s music talents and loved attending their band concerts.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Todd W. and Tracy Hower of Milton, one daughter; Kathryn Martin of Lewisburg, two grandchildren; Kevin T. Hower and his wife Emma Vitolo and Lucas M. Hower and one great grandson; Simon A. Vitolo-Hower.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by one son; Thad M. Hower and two sisters; Frances Bell and Julia Schleppy.
A public viewing will take place from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 107 S. Front Street, Milton, followed by a Celebration Of Life at 11:00 with The Reverend Brian Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Milton. Arrangements are being handled by Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton.
