MILTON - Ernest C. Day, 73, died Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born in Lewisburg on November 7, 1949 and was the son of the late Ellery H. and Edna (Weller) Day.
Ernest served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart for his courageous efforts.
On October 4, 2015, Ernest married the former Cindy L. Starr and together they celebrated 8 years of marriage together this year.
He worked for various places in the valley including, Leer and Jerrico as well as owned and operated Day’s Mower and Small Engine Repair, Milton. Ernest was a member of the Montandon Legion, Post #841. Among many things, Ernest enjoyed restoring cars, racing, Penn State Football, Little League Baseball, deep sea fishing and snowmobiling. He loved his family and loved spending time with them.
In addition to his wife, Ernest is survived by one son; Ernest C. Day, Jr. of White Deer, one daughter; Heather R. Guy and her companion, Curt Heitzeman both of Milton, one son-in-law; Brian Young of Montandon, three step-sons; Chris and Brandy Snyder of New Berlin, Larry and Theresa Beachel of New Columbia and Justin and Jasmine Beachel of New Columbia and one step-daughter; Stacy of West Chester, 17 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, seven brothers; Boyd, Richard “Dick” Ronald, Donald, Dean and John Day and Gerald Hause and two sisters; Florine Beachel and Helen Miller.
In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by one daughter; Pamela Young, three brothers; Terry Day, Larry Day and Clifford Weller and four sisters; Ardrena Bridge, June Beachel, Florence Roush and Madeline Weaver.
Services for Ernest will be announced at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton.
