MILTON - Galen L. Leitzel, Sr., 83, died unexpectantly at his home on Monday, July 20, 2026.
He was born in Monroe Twp., Snyder County on July 22, 1942 and was the son of the late Harry W. and Marie A. (Swartzlander) Leitzel.
On February 11, 1964, Galen married the former Ida H. (Hunt) celebrating 62 years of marriage together this year.
Galen served his country proudly in the United States Army from February 28, 1963 and was honorably discharged on February 23, 1966. Galen served overseas in Europe (USAREUR) and was assigned to the 535th Engineer Company, USARSEVEN.
He was a graduate of Selinsgrove High School, Class of 1960. He went on to work for ACF Industries, Milton as a lathe operator and retired in 1999.
Galen was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of both the NRA and North American Hunting Club. He was a simple man but he loved to hunt and work in his vegetable garden. Most of all he loved spending his free time with his nephew, Richard Wagner.
In addition to his wife, Galen is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; Agnes and Jay Gormley of Winfield two brothers; Harry (Katherine) and Glenn (Lena) Leitzel and one sister; Dianne Reichard.
In addition to his parents, Galen was preceded in death by one son; Galen L. Leitzel, Jr and sister-in-law Katherine Leitzel.
To honor his wishes, all services for Galen will be held privately at the convenience of the family. The Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street Milton is honored to serve the Leitzel family.
