ELIZABETHTOWN - Richard E. Snyder, 87, formerly of Chillisquaque, died Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown.
He was born on March 1, 1931 in Lewisburg and was the son of the late Earnest and Erma (Shuman) Snyder.
On February 14, 1976 Richard married the late Ruth E. (Walize) Snyder and they celebrated 38 years of marriage together until her death on October 29, 2015.
Richard served his country proudly during the Korean War in the United States Army.
He was a member of the Masons Lodge 401, Watsontown, the American Legion Post 323, Watsontown and the Moose Club of Selinsgrove. He enjoyed traveling with Ruth, eating at Burger King and tinkering with things around the house.
Richard is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Kevin and Penny Snyder of Mifflinburg, one daughter and son-in-law; Susan and Alan Lewis of Las Vegas, NV, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by one son; Keith Snyder, one brother; Robert Snyder and one sister; Evelyn Young.
A public viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery with full military honors.
