Mary Zeager

On June 28, 2022 Mary Frances (Burner) Zeager, 81, surrounded by her children, was released from her earthly purpose and entered into her heavenly home.

She was born on March 15, 1941 in Savage, Maryland and was the daughter of the late William H. and Clara Mae (Whitehead) Burner.

Mary graduated from Howard County Senior High School, Ellicott City, MD Class of 1960.  She served her voluntary service with Mennonite Missions in Philadelphia.

On November 24, 1962 Mary Married the late David Zeager of Elizabethtown.  They were married for 52 years until his death on April 27, 2015.

She is survived by two sons; Dwight (Hyunsoon) Zeager and Joseph (Holly Cardell) Zeager, two daughters; Reverend Eunice (Rodney) Smith and Loretta Hostetler, 15 grandchildren; Desiree Hathcock, Miyoung (Nguyen) Chau, Yongsung Kim, Jazen Cardell, Parker Cardell, Zander Zeager, Micah Zeager, Tiffany (Joseph Richie) Ryant, Daniel Smith, Luke Smith, Katlynn (Alex Kibler) Smith and her Great Grandchildren; Tiberius Ford Shivers, Atticus Chau, Gwendolyn Chau, Guinivere Chau, Spartacus Chau, Marcus Kim, Rayne Ryant and Raven Richie along with one sister-in-law; Helen Burner and numerous nieces and nephews

Mary was the last of her siblings, in addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her seven brothers and sisters-in-law; Robert and Gloria Burner, William Burner, Charles Burner, Everett Burner, Earl and Frances Burner, Ermon Burner and Harry Burner, three sisters; Mabel Arnold, Freida Wells and an infant sister and one daughter-in-law; Vicki Zeager.

She raised her children with an emphasis to care for the elderly and have a strong work ethic.  She retired from Riverwoods, Lewisburg after 35 years as a Geriatric Certified Nursing Assistant that always gave quality, compassionate and consistent care to the residents.

Mary was a Christian, a faithful follower of Jesus Christ entering the Mennonite denomination at Guilford Road Mennonite Church, Jessup, MD at the age of 12.  She attended Buffalo Mennonite Church, Lewisburg and was a current member of East District Mennonite Church, Watsontown.

She lived out her faith by caring for others her entire life with humility, humor and high personal care standards.  Mary enjoyed sewing, original country and bluegrass music, family visits and weekend sleepovers with her daughters, granddaughters and great granddaughters.

A viewing for Mary will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton and again on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at East District Mennonite Church, 71 East District Road, Watsontown, PA 17777 followed by the funeral at 11:00.  Burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family in Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
